Translation
Chinese, French, and Spanish into English
My goal is to create tailored English texts that read not as translations, but as if they were originally written in English. Here is how I do this:
- Strong knowledge of the source language(s) - I am an avid reader and podcast listener in my source and target languages
- Polished English writing skills
- A second set of eyes - While I carefully edit my own work, the industry standard is editing by a second linguist; my network of collaborators ensures a seamless workflow
Editing
I edit translations by other linguists, texts written by non-native English speakers, and texts that may just need a little polish. Not the Polish language, though, as I don’t speak it. Here is how I do this:
- Meticulous editing skills
- Implementation of desired changes without introducing new errors
- Communication with original authors and translators as needed

Proofreading / Linguistic Proofing
I am one of those people who are bothered by a rogue comma, or the “improper” use of quotation marks in a text, so proofreading is a natural passion. I perform a lot of “linguistic proofing” which is described below:
- Side-by-side comparison of the source text and final print-ready translation to ensure no omissions or inaccuracies
- Additional rounds of review to verify grammar, spelling, and punctuation
